Acreage Blog Tour
I was chosen to be apart of the Acreage Collection by Shannon Gillman Orr for Moda Fabrics Blog Tour this summer to showcase her super fun and fresh collection due out in September.
Myself and 12 other bloggers will be working on a project using fabric from the
Acreage Collection and will post a few pictures to promote this new line! I am honored to be apart of this since I am completely obsessing over sewing and quilting right now!
The blog tour will begin on July 11th and the bloggers below will be posting projects using the Acreage Collection. My official post date for the tour is September 5 right here-but of course I'm going to be showing previews throughout the summer! Make sure to check out my Instagram @lklichty
Shannon's fabric is just perfect for a summer project! I just wish I had more right now to do a bigger quilt!

Stay-Cation
Yesterday, I had myself a little stay-cation. It was glorious! I usually have to use vacation days from work to have a long weekend for our trips to visit family or friends but yesterday I decided to treat myself and use one of my vacation days for me.
I was really blessed to have my mom, dad and little sister in town to take care of Wade while I took care of myself. That was so sweet and wonderful of them.
First off, I slept in until 7:30am. Yes. That was refreshing. Kyle got me my favorite Panera bagel for breakfast and then we rushed off to our tee time to enjoy a round of golf together. I love golfing and haven't gotten to play for over a year and a half! Even though it wasn't my best round it was nice to get out and walk and drive the golf ball again. For the rest of the afternoon I spent in my sewing room cutting my Acreage Fabric by EB Makery for my upcoming blog tour post. Cannot wait to post a sneak preview soon! Finally, to cap off my stay-cation, Kyle and I traveled to Sioux City to watch Dierks Bentley and Randy Houser in concert. We had VIP tickets and got to go in early for an acoustic concert by Dierks before hand. He was literally <10ft away! Even though I wish I would have brought hearing protection for the actual concert since we were right by the speakers I had a blast with Kyle and it was our fist date night where we were out late enough where we didn't put Wade to sleep. We missed the little guy but had so much fun together

Fat Quarter Shop's Simple Zipper Bag
https://youtu.be/zH_BRLsV_4o
This Simple Zipper Bag from Fat Quarter Shop featuring Sherri McConnell from www.aquiltinglife.com is the perfect quick weekend project. It probably would only take an hour to complete start to finish if you don't have a 9 month old on your hip or sitting on your lap while trying to sew! Wade was a good sport and let me get this large zipper bag finished using a Mini Charm Pack from Moda Gooseberry, mini pearl bracelets in red and a fat quarter I had for the lining. This quick project gave me a chance to work on ironing my patchwork correctly and my machine quilting techniques.
Pineapple Mini Quilt-Finished!
Got my mini pineapple quilt done! The finished block measures 16.5"x10.75". I used a jelly roll strip plus a cut from a fat quarter to bind the quilt with this purple contrast fabric. I am still working at perfecting my binding technique but I think I get better every time. I learned a lot from this quilt in terms of seam allowances when making half square triangles. Next time, I'll either use a one to one mini charm ratio when making yellow or green corners and have a little waste or cut the corners to be 3" so the finished square is 2.5". Since I didn't do that this block, I had to square up my rowa more often than I would have liked and therefore it is a bit smaller finished. But that's what I like about quilting- always learning something to take to the next project!
This pineapple pattern is so delicious I want to use it to create a lap size quilt or larger to cuddle with this winter.
I tried to get Wade to model my finished mini quilt that is just his size but he wasn't super cooperative-so many other things to explore!
